Traveller Comments:
"Room is ok - spacious and clean.
No wi-fi in the room - but Laos problems...
The worse is for our room : no view, but a big wall !!!
You have to inform your customers that its a no view room.
We asked for other room but it was not possible.
So for that reason we will not recommended this guest house, unfortunately."
Mr. Jacques TOMEI - France on 02/03/2010
"We booked Vayakorn by following a link on their own website and ended up paying just over $31 a night including the booking fee. What was really annoying was that everyone else there was paying $26 and even the walk up rate was $26, so we felt a little hard done by but at least we secured accommodation advance.

The reception area is beautiful and smoke free and the communal areas were generally very clean. Our room was on the top floor and there was no lift but not too much of a problem as we needed the exercise carrying our bags!

We read the comments on line about the no fire exit situation and previous fire, but the first and second floors have a fire exit, its just the 3rd floor that doesn't and yes the emergency exit signs do just point to a wall!

Our room was really big and clean and with a nice big bed. The only TV channels in English were news channels but that wasn't a problem as we weren't there to watch TV The rooms were cleaned daily. The shower never got above luke warm even when turned up to hot and the pressure down which wasn't great considering it was electric. We thought that all the rooms had wifi but it turns out ours didn't – perhaps its only the rooms on the lower floors that get the wifi.

Good location just off the main river front with lots of restaurants near by. The staff were helpful when they could understand you but English is not widely spoken.

Breakfast wasn't included but it was a reasonable price and the food was good.

We would probably stay in one of the cheaper guest houses next time and not book in advance as we felt Vayakorn was really over priced for what it had to offer."
Mrs. LUCY LYNAM - United Kingdom on 21/02/2010
"Nice and clean in a good location"
Ms. Hannah Eisen - Australia on 16/01/2010
"A really good value guesthouse in a brilliant location."
Ms. Carol Norris - United Kingdom on 04/01/2010
"Perfect location, great value, floors so clean that it's dangerous, couldn't have asked for anything more."
Mr. David De Remer - United States on 23/12/2009
"A clean room, serviced everyday a very pleasant environment!"
Ms. Nina James - United Kingdom on 22/12/2009
"I would certainly recommend the Vayakorn Guesthouse to anyone who is visiting Vientiane. Everything was great with the accommodations"
Mr. Michel Gervais - Canada on 05/12/2009
"No water to shower on the morning we had to check out to go to the airport to get a long haul international flight. The duty receptionist was very unhelpful, refused to call the manager at our request and refused to give his name.No explanation was given as to why we had no water."
Ms. Lorna Henderson - United Kingdom on 22/11/2009
"A group of 5 of us stayed at Vayakorn GH from 10th to 14th and experienced a perilous situation in which one of the rooms on the floor we were staying caught fire( apparently faulty AC unit). We are concerned that there is not a fire alarm system installed in the 4 storey building to warn guests in case of fire and inadequate fire exits, one was blocked. we were woken up by other members of the group when there was already a lot of thick smoke along the corridors. We hurriedly went downstairs, no fire engine arrived and a member of staff tried to put the fire singlehandedly, more importantly none of the guests on the other unaffected floors were evacuated!!This is not good enough and safety does not appear to be of paramount concern for the proprietors of the hotel. We were transferred to another GH for the night andw dread to think what would have happened if the fire had been more serious. Please put in fire safety measures , its peoples lives you are dealing with."
Mr. Hp Low - United Kingdom on 21/11/2009
"I am enthusiastic about this hotel. it's as good as the Taipan and half the price. It's not cheap - just that too many hotels are over-priced!
The breakfast was quite good, but not included in the cost of the room - and the eggs were cooked solid! But the bread was fresh, warm, excellent.
wifi connection was exremely slow at times - too many people logging on? But that IS included - a nice touch."
Mr. stephen kreppel - United Kingdom on 06/07/2009
"Good hotel, no breakfast"
Mr. LUCIO FINOCCHI - Italy on 30/06/2009
"by far this is the best place to stay in vientiane for the location, cleanliness, size of room, value for money and the wifi has a strong signal as well."
Ms. Johanna Lagman - Philippines on 22/06/2009
"Great room, very large and clean. Very convienent to the river front. Would stay again - thanks!"
Ms. Jodie Jansen - United States on 02/03/2009
"a perfect place to stay in vientiane!!!"
Mr. Jakub Macierzynski - Poland on 24/02/2009
"No fire exit on third floor. Signs to fire exit on third floor lead to a wall and a window with no menas of escape. If there's no fire exit, why put up fire exit signs?"
Mr. Jan Schauseil - Germany on 10/01/2009
"The bed covers really need some washing."
Ms. LUCINDA BANJAR BINTI KUNNING - Malaysia on 17/12/2008
"Hotel was clean, well located and reasonable value. However, I've marked the service as bad since they did not pick up from the airport, as we'd requested and paid for. I ended up needing to call them and through very broken english, being told there was no car and I would need to get a taxi. The manager finally did repay the pick up charge and apologised, saying their car had broken down. I think it is very poor that they did not find some way to meet us, since the airport is only a short distance from the city."
Mr. Naveen Nair - United Kingdom on 09/12/2008
"Our bad experience are regarding a two time confirmation about a final booking (usede this website) and the fact, that no room was available. Unprofessional service. They organised another hotel for us with the same standard, but cheaper than there own one. So no recommandation for this hotel."
Mr. Michael Merkle - Germany on 26/11/2008
"Room was small and the smell was terrible. I could never sleep there if I wasn't jet lagged. Wonderland 2 is a much better guesthouse and I would never stay at Vayakorn again."
Mr. David Matson - Australia on 30/09/2008
"The hotel is situated in a nice area. it's close to the river, some beautiful temple and a lot of restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. Recommendable!!!"
Mrs. Kristin Jahn - Germany on 13/03/2008
"The hotel was fine - just what I needed when I arrived in the evening time. However, the website makes you pay in advance - I had booked and prepaid for a $22 dollar room but when I checked in I was given a much smaller $15 room. I got annoyed with the hotel staff for which I subsequently apologised several times as it was not their fault...the website people had only reserved a $15 room even though they had taken payment of $22. I emailed the website that evening and by the time I got to reception the next morning they had resolved my problem and moved me. It left me a little bitter about the experience and I will not use the service again."
Ms. Jane Conroy on 03/03/2008
"seems fairly good value for what you get when compared to other places around"
Mr. william taylor - United Kingdom on 10/02/2008
"Good value"
Mr. Hendrik Esselink on 17/12/2007
"Great guesthouse, which could be rather called a hotel, in great location. It's pretty much in the heart of the city.
Spacious room, very comfortable bed and very clean. Very good value for the money."
Mr. Thomas Neubert - Germany on 01/12/2007
"No comment submitted"
Mr. Hiroshi Tanikawa - Laos on 20/03/2007
"This was our second visit and it was as we hoped.
Dorothy and Nigel, Australia"

"Really loved staying here. The hotel was an absolute bargain and so clean and comfortable. The staff were great - so friendly and helpful. Good location, a big thumbs up."
